Carmel Del Mar has the beginning of an eBook collection. Our collection has 84 eBooks at this time; new books will be added each year. Because of the limited supply of books I am introducing eBooks to 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders only. Students can read books online from any workstation with internet access and a web-browser. Your students will bring home their personal eBook library card showing the website address, user id, and password. The yellow card is attached to a “Quick Reference Guide” flyer. Most of the students will see a demonstration at school. eBooks will be available to all Carmel Del Mar students and staff as our collection grows.
To access the Carmel Del Mar virtual library go to: http://wbb08496.follettshelf.com. Technical specifications for supported operating systems may be accessed via http://www.aboutfollettebooks.com/techspecs.cfm.
Although Follettshelf has a very intuitive user interface, when you first log on with your child, you may visit the online “HELP” function. On the upper right-hand corner of the main screen between “Advanced Search” and “Logout” there is a yellow icon with a ?. When the ? icon is selected, you will be directed to a new browser tab containing the Follettshelf “ONLINE HELP” PAGE.
When a student checks out a book online, it is placed on their virtual book shelf for seven days. They are allowed to place only one book on their shelf at this time, because of the limited number of eBooks in the collection.
If you have any questions or problems with Follettshelf eBooks system, please email Michelle Meckel at mmeckel@dmusd.org and type FOLLETTSHELF in the subject line.
